Prayers for Healers

For Doctors and Nurses
Sanctify, O Lord, those whom you have called to the study and practice of the arts of healing, and to the prevention of disease and pain. Strengthen them by your life giving Spirit, that by their ministries the health of the community may be promoted and your creation glorified; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord, the healer of our diseases, who knows that the sick have need of a physician; bless all whom you have called to be sharers in your own work of healing with health alike of body and soul, that they learn their art in dependence upon you, and exercise it always under your sanction, and your honour and glory, who live and reign with the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

Almighty God, look upon those who are sick in body or in mind: on the handicapped and the infirm; on all who suffer pain. Bless, O God, the ministrations of every one who gives them care; let your healing power be their invigoration to restore them to health or alleviate their ills; let your loving-kindness be their solace; and grant them the faith, the patience and the valor by which the spirit serves the flesh and abides unconquered; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Those Who Serve the Sick
Blessed Lord, who went about doing good and healing all manner of sickness and infirmity, bestow your blessings, we pray, upon our doctors and nurses and all who work in hospitals and homes for the relief of human suffering. Give them skill and tenderness, cheerfulness and patience, and let them find their reward in grateful hearts and in the knowledge that they are serving you. Amen.
