In doing, so I am professing today the threefold vows of Stability, Obedience, and Conversatio Morum Suorum to be renewed annually. - Bishop Visitor

With gratitude to God, the giver of all good gifts, I accept your vows, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

An Exhortation and the Solemn Monastic Blessing

A reading from from Paul's letter to the Ephesians 3:15-21:

I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Amen.

- Bishop Vistor

The Lord be with you.

- All

And also with you.

- Bishop Vistor

Let us pray. Holy and gracious Father we ask that you bless ╬ and sanctify the whole manner of life, both of soul and body, of your servant who in earnest love and devotion offers himself/herself/themselves to you. Give him/her/them, through your Spirit, prudence and modesty, wisdom and kindness, gravity and gentleness, openness and freedom of heart. May (s)he/they be fervent in charity and love nothing apart from you. May (s)he/they live worthy of praise without seeking praise. May (s)he/they glorify you in holiness of body and purity of heart. May (s)he/they serve you in love and holy awe.Be his/her/their honor, Lord, his/her/their joy and his/her/their whole desire, his/her/their comfort in trouble, his/her/their counsel in doubt, his/her/their defense in injury, his/her/their patience in adversity, his/her/their abundance in poverty, his/her/their food in fasting, his/her/their medicine in sickness. May (s)he/they find all in you, whom (s)he/they seeks to love above all. May (s)he/they hold fast to what (s)he has professed, and at the end be counted among those faithful ones who await the coming of their Savior and enter into the eternal joy of his heavenly banquet. Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.Lord God, look with love and mercy upon your servant(s) N.__________. In your providence you have called him/her/them to follow Christ under the guidance of Saint Benedict. Pour upon him/her/them the fullness of your life-giving Spirit, help him/her/them to fulfill in faith what you have enabled him/her/them to vow in joy, that he/she/they may persevere until life's end. May he/she/they be rooted in humility; may he/she/they be filled with joy in Christ and your Gospel, and be enflamed with love for his/her/their Brothers and Sisters, and for your whole creation. May (he/she/they) build up your Church by the holiness of his/her/their life, advance the salvation of the world, and be a sign of your kingdom to come. May he/she/ they receive in this life you promised hundredfold blessing, that at the judgment seat of Christ (s)he/they may find the joy of vows fulfilled and, made perfect in your love, rejoice to praise you in the Communion of Saints unto ages of ages. Amen. May the blessing of Almighty God, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, come down upon you and remain with you forever. Amen.

The Superior then presents the newly Professed to the Community, and the Mass continues.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,

of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.

The Celebrant adds a concluding Collect

Confession of Sin

A Confession of Sin is said here. On occasion, the Confession may be omitted.
The Deacon or Celebrant says

Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.

Silence may be kept.
Minister and People

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.

The Bishop, when present, or the Priest, stands and says

Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins
through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all
goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in
eternal life. Amen.

The Peace

All stand. The Celebrant says to the people

The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

- People

And also with you.

Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.

Eucharistic Prayer C

The Celebrant may begin with an Offertory sentences.

During the Offertory, a hymn, psalm, or anthem may be sung.

The Great Thanksgiving

The people remain standing. The Celebrant, whether bishop or priest, faces them and sings or says

The Lord be with you.

- People

And also with you.

- Celebrant

Lift up your hearts.

- People

We lift them to the Lord.

- Celebrant

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

- People

It is right to give him thanks and praise.

Then, facing the Holy Table, the Celebrant proceeds

God of all power, Ruler of the Universe, you are worthy of
glory and praise.

- People

Glory to you for ever and ever.

At your command all things came to be: the vast expanse of
interstellar space, galaxies, suns, the planets in their courses,
and this fragile earth, our island home.

- People

By your will they were created and have their being.

From the primal elements you brought forth the human race,
and blessed us with memory, reason, and skill. You made us
the rulers of creation. But we turned against you, and betrayed
your trust; and we turned against one another.

- People

Have mercy, Lord, for we are sinners in your sight.

Again and again, you called us to return. Through prophets
and sages you revealed your righteous Law. And in the
fullness of time you sent your only Son, born of a woman, to
fulfill your Law, to open for us the way of freedom and peace.

- People

By his blood, he reconciled us.
By his wounds, we are healed.

And therefore we praise you, joining with the heavenly
chorus, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all
those in every generation who have looked to you in hope, to
proclaim with them your glory, in their unending hymn:

Celebrant and People say

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant Continues

And so, Father, we who have been redeemed by him, and
made a new people by water and the Spirit, now bring before
you these gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be the
Body and Blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it, or lay a hand upon it, and at the words concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing wine to be consecrated.

On the night he was betrayed he took bread, said the
blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his friends, and
said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do
this for the remembrance of me."
After supper, he took the cup of wine, gave thanks, and
said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new
Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the
forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the
remembrance of me."
Remembering now his work of redemption, and offering to you this
sacrifice of thanksgiving,
We celebrate his death and resurrection,
as we await the day of his coming.
Lord God of our Fathers and Mothers: God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob;
Sarah, Hagar, and Rebekah. God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Open our eyes to see your hand at work in the world about us. Deliver
us from the presumption of coming to this Table for solace
only, and not for strength; for pardon only, and not for
renewal. Let the grace of this Holy Communion make us one
body, one spirit in Christ, that we may worthily serve the
world in his name.
Risen Lord, be known to us in the breaking of the Bread.
Accept these prayers and praises, Father, through Jesus
Christ our great High Priest, to whom, with you and the
Holy Spirit, your Church gives honor, glory, and worship,
from generation to generation. AMEN.
As our Savior Christ has taught us, we now pray,

People and Celebrant

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom
come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give
us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we
forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the
time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the
kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now
and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

The Celebrant breaks the consecrated Bread.
A period of silence is kept. Then may be sung or said

[Alleluia.] Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;

- People

Therefore let us keep the feast. [Alleluia.]

The following is to be said or sung:

The Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
The Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
The Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world, grant us your peace.

Facing the people, the Celebrant says the following Invitation

The Gifts of God for the People of God.

Take them in remembrance that Christ died for
you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith,
with thanksgiving.

The ministers receive the Sacrament in both kinds, and then immediately deliver it to the people.

The Bread and the Cup are given to the communicants with these words

The Body of Christ, the bread of heaven. [Amen.]
The Blood of Christ, the cup of salvation. [Amen.]

During the ministration of Communion, hymns, psalms, or anthems may
be sung.

After Communion, the Celebrant says

Let us pray.

Celebrant and People

In deep gratitude for this moment, this meal, and for each other,
we give ourselves to you most holy God.
Take us out into the world to live as changed people
because we have shared the Living Bread
and cannot remain the same.
Ask much of us,
Expect much of us,
Enable much by us,
Encourage many through us.
May we dedicate our lives to your glory. Amen
